FPL Double Gameweek 29 Preview

My team is off to a rather unfortunate start in double Gameweek 28. My one transfer, Jarrod Bowen to Jacob Ramsey, has not paid dividends yet, although Ramsey still has a fixture against Leeds to change that. My big mistake of the Gameweek was choosing to ignore Chelsea right back Reece James on his return from injury, as I was unsure that he would start both games and would have had to bench Bukayo Saka against Watford if I brought in James. Saka did score a goal and tally 12 points in a 3-2 win, yet Reece James punished my decision with an 18-point display against Burnley. He has a chance to rack up even more points with his next fixture against lowly Norwich.I look set to lose some of the rank I gained over the last couple of weeks, but with more double Gameweeks coming up and my wildcard still in my back pocket, I feel confident that I can finish the season well.

Looking forward to double Gameweek 29, I am currently eyeing up an eight point hit to strengthen my team for the double as well as blank Gameweek 30. My plan is to bring in Son Heung-min, Matt Doherty, and Hwang Hee-chan for Phil Foden, Tino Livramento, and Emmanuel Dennis. I hate to let go of Foden before Manchester City play Crystal Palace, but I can’t pass up the opportunity to bring in Son before Tottenham’s double gameweek of Manchester United and Brighton, both of whom have looked loose at the back recently. Doherty has also looked bright for Tottenham lately, and the Spurs duo also plays in Gameweek 30, allowing me to save my second free hit chip for later in the season. Hwang is another player who has a fixture in Gameweek 30, and the money freed up by downgrading Dennis allows me to make the other two transfers.

I am also keeping an eye on Tottenham winger Dejan Kulusevski, who has been a joy to watch since joining the club from Juventus. If you can get to him easily, Harry Kane is probably the best Spurs option this week. However, his price tag is just too much for my team at the moment. I’m very happy with my Arsenal trio of Bukayo Saka, Kieran Tierney, and Aaron Ramsdale for their double this week, but Alexandre Lacazette is another good option from the Gunners if your team is in need of a striker. I also own Andy Robertson, Mohamed Salah, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, who I think are the best options for Liverpool’s double Gameweek, but Virgil van Dijk and Diogo Jota are also capable of big scores.

Past Gameweek 30, my plans are slightly more unsure. I am looking to use my wildcard in Gameweek 31 to attack the future double Gameweeks, but the makeup of that team is still up in the air. I will most likely be looking to bring in a Leicester player like James Maddison or Harvey Barnes, as the Foxes still have three postponed games to make up.
