Get Ready for Quadstock

It’s almost that time of year again for one of Seattle University’s popular events: Quadstock. Quadstock is an all-day event that starts with

a free carnival-like festival and then culminates with a big concert in the evening. It even won an award for best fair/festival in 2012 from the International Special Events Society. Last night, SEAC hosted the Quadstock unveiling party in the Student Center’s hearth where they offered free ice cream and a musical performance by Scribes, a local hip-hop artist. After, they announced the lineup for the 25th annual Quadstock which will occur on May 17th. The concert will open with Shelton Harris, a rapper from Seattle who started performing back in 2011. He has already been the opening act for artists such as Macklemore and Hoodie Allen. Harris will also be performing at the Sasquatch Music Festival. Next will be a performance by Sea Wolf, a band based out of Los Angeles that has also done several recordings in the Seattle area. So far, the band has released three records, the most recent coming in 2012 titled “Old World Romance”. The headlining act for this year’s Quadstock will be Best Coast, which features the rock duo of Bethany Cosentino and Bobb Bruno. Best Coast started in Los Angeles back in 2009 and has since recorded three albums and appeared at several festivals. As a Seattle University student, I would encourage everyone to attend. Last year was a very memorable experience for me as the whole Seattle University community joined together for this fun on-campus event. The day

starts off with small performances, games and activities on the Union Green. This part is free to the public. Later, people will start heading to the quad. I remember the entire area was blocked off with fences, nobody could see the stage beforehand. Once I handed in my ticket, the real fun began. Restaurants from all over Seattle had food stations set up on the upper mall and the stage was set for an amazing concert with last year’s headlining act, Super Mash Bros. I look forward to this year’s performances and will be buying my ticket as soon as I can. I suggest you all do the same!
