Halloweekend is Gearing Up to Feature Creativity and Excitement
Halloween provides a space for creativity, expression and celebration that doesn’t always present itself in everyday life. In Seattle, the Halloween events planned around Capitol Hill are providing that and more. Between celebrity-inspired dance parties and horror-filled scares, there is a place for everyone to become entranced by the spooky spirit. For students 21+, Halloweekend has lots in store.
Local nightclub Chop Suey rarely disappoints with their themed events, Halloween being no different. This year, one of their events is themed around famous singer and budding actor, Harry Styles. For fans who cannot make the real “Harryween” at The Forum in Los Angeles, this event is a great option. Chop Suey’s take on Harryween will be on Oct. 30 from 8:30 to 11:30 p.m., with doors opening at 8 p.m.. Chop Suey’s “Harryween” will be a great way to celebrate the release of Harry’s House and party with friends. Tickets can be purchased here for $10 or $15 the day of.
Chop Suey will also be hosting “SLAY – Halloween Edition” Friday, Oct. 28. The event is a dance party for LGTBQ and POC communities and allies, with a portion of the proceeds going to Planned Parenthood. This is a great option if you want to support an important cause this Halloweekend. Doors will be opening at 10:30 p.m. and ticket prices range from $5 to $10. Tickets are available to purchase here.
Neumos, a local music venue near the Seattle U campus, is ready for Halloweekend festivities. Typically hosting a line out the door and down the street, this venue is always hosting exciting concerts and events. One of their Halloween events is Lizzo themed. Knowing how upbeat and uplifting her songs can be, it can be assumed Nuemos’s “100% That Witch” will be nothing less than spectacular. On Friday, Oct. 28, for only $10, doors will open at 9 p.m. for a night of dancing and laughter. Tickets can be purchased here.
Neumos’ second Halloween offering is “Twerk Or Treat.” This official Halloween party will be Saturday, Oct. 29 with tickets on sale now for only $10. Allow yourself to experience a night full of dancing and cheer starting at 9 p.m. and purchase your tickets here.
If Neumos or Chop Suey aren’t your style this spooky season, Unicorn has several events lined up. “Isabella Extynn’s Body Count” will be hosted Friday, Oct. 28 with a $10 cover charge. The ticket includes drinks and a costume contest at midnight, and doors will be open from 9 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., providing an unmissable spooky atmosphere.
“Drag Roulette 2” will also be hosted by Unicorn. Viewers can experience performances from several drag queens with food and drinks on Sunday, Oct. 30, Tickets range from $5 to $50 and the show is from 7 to 9:30 p.m.. Tickets can be purchased here.
Directly after the drag show, Unicorn will be putting on “SPREAD,” an all women’s dance party from 9:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. “SPREAD” is a great pick for women looking for security and ease this holiday weekend, allowing for a carefree night.
With the plethora of Seattle events lined up, the next step is the costume, the most important and alluring aspect of Halloween. While some stick to basic and simple costumes, many are driven towards more unique and over-the-top costumes.
Some of the Halloween costumes predicted to be popular by Cosmopolitan this year include Harry Styles and Chris Pine, any “Euphoria” or “House of Dragons” character, and Blake Lively at the Met Gala.
Variety shared ideas for Halloween costumes based on the cinematic premiers of this year. They mentioned Eddie Munson from “Stranger Things,” Velma from “Scooby Doo,” Elvis, Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee, Barbie and Ken, Kate Sharma from “Bridgerton” and Wanda Maximoff.
This weekend, the streets will be full of jolly, dressed-up Seattleites searching for a night of fun. Whether it’s children hobbling around with bags full of candy or young adults partying with friends, Halloween is a time to escape reality and explore the world of anyone or anything you desire.
