Location: Located on Broadway between the intersections of Pike and Pine, Tacos Guaymas is a little hole-in-the-wall Mexican restaurant. During the day it is easy to walk past and not notice, but at night there’s sure to be a line extending out the door of the sub-one hundred square foot establishment.
Food: A friend of mine ordered the carne asada burrito “wet” (with enchilada sauce on top), and was very impressed. Coming in at $11 it is a huge amount of food, and a good deal for the money. I ordered the carne asada and carnitas tacos, two of each. I enjoyed the carnitas, it was well cooked and very flavorful. The carne asade on the other hand turned out to be lengua. I fully understand cultural delicacies and respect them, but my stomach wasn’t so understanding. This mix-up is totally understandable as it was late in the night and the two-man operation was slammed with orders. Had it been the carne asada that my friend raved about, the $12 for four tacos would be a bargain. The service was expeditious, the atmosphere was inviting, and the location is great if you find yourself out in Capitol Hill late with friends.
